Originally from Marseille, Gilbert started downhill skiing at the age of 9. The practice of this winter sport quickly became a passion and even better, his job. Gigi describes herself as 50% Marseillais and 50% mountain dweller, which gives a cheerful, positive and passionate character by what the mountain offers!

Passionate about the mountains and alpine skiing, Gilbert first worked as a pole man at the ski lifts in La Foux d'Allos. He finally decided to become a ski instructor, he started with the technical test which he passed in three times and then headed to ENSA where he did his ski instructor training. Gilbert is today full of knowledge and experience, he had the opportunity to teach for Club Med, ESI and UCPA and he has today more than twenty ski resorts in which he has taught alpine skiing as a ski instructor.

Gilbert has now settled in Savoie where he has been teaching all seasons for 16 years now. The 3 Valleys ski area, including the Ménuires ski area, is his second home.

What is Gilbert's favorite part of being a ski instructor?

Gilbert loves giving ski lessons to children in Les Menuires, who call him Gigi, for him to be able to share his positivity and passion for skiing with the younger generation is a daily accomplishment. Following an accident in an avalanche a few years ago, Gilbert is a miracle worker who enjoys every moment on the ski slopes. For this reason, this ski instructor from Les Ménuires loves difficulty, he wants to give pleasure back to people who no longer have any pleasure in skiing, he also wants to help people overcome their fears and their blockages. You will have understood that Gilbert likes to take up challenges!

Our ski instructor in Les Ménuires claims to have the most beautiful office in the world, and for good reason his office is a ski slope. What could be better than starting a ski lesson every morning with the pleasure of working outside and being able to live from his passion.

Beyond the teaching of alpine skiing...

Our ski instructor in Les Ménuires is also a great mountaineering enthusiast, it is important for him to share the values of the mountain, to young and old alike. He wants to be able to transmit the technique, on the one hand, but also to offer a human experience, full of values, love of the mountain including the fauna and flora that surrounds it.
